I won an award! Oh, wait …
Back when my M.E was severe, I was lucky enough to receive a letter telling me I’d been ‘awarded’ PIP (disability benefits). Obviously I was grateful – I needed all the help I could get. But I was also a little amused.
I mean, I’d heard that getting approved for PIP payments in England can be a battle, but I hadn’t realised it is considered an award if I win.
It got me wondering: Will I get a ceremony? Will there be a brass band? Does someone important shake my hand and congratulate me on my great success and achievement in becoming disabled and no longer able to care for myself? I really hoped so.
